Open Weave Scarf
My daughter called for a scarf she could wrap around her face while standing outside at recess with her class. She doesn’t want a claustrophobic feeling. A quick headband would also be needed to keep her ears warm.
The scarf idea came from bekah at ravelry.
For the scarf, using size 13 needles I cast on 30 stitches and knit 2 rows. Then switching needles I knitted 1 row on size 35 and 1 row on size 13. Continue 1 row each until desired length. Finish off with 2 rows knit on size 13. I didn’t add fringe, but it would make a nice decorative touch. Being this wide she can double it over if she wishes.
For the headband I didn’t want the open weave. Using size 13 cast on 6 stitches. Knit 6 rows. Increase at each end next 2 rows (10 stitches). Knit until desired length. Decrease each end next 2 rows (6 stitches). Knit 6 rows. Seam ends together.
You can see more pictures of the process in my ravelry notebook.
My teddy bear was more than happy to model for me before I mailed the set to my daughter.
