Christening Gown altered
I told you about taking my daughter’s wedding gown and making a christening gown out of it for her daughter. We live on opposite ends of the state so when I made the dress it was without benefit of a model.
We met up this week and tried the dress on. It looked nice but had too much of an A frame shape making it appear dispr
oportionate and too large. I altered the seam line to make it straight instead of angled and it looked much better. We had to roll up the jacket sleeves and hem them shorter.
Then as along as I was at the machine anyway took some of the leftover scraps to make a purse to put her new bible in.
The altered dress is now complete and ready for her big moment this weekend. Her mom is planning to save the dress by draping it across the back of a large frame like she did her wedding veil then adding pictures and memorabilia. This will also allow the dress to be used should they be blessed with another child.
