Packing for Knit-Out at the Mall of America

Friday morning we will load up the car and head for the cold tundra of Minneapolis where I will be assisting at Knit-Out 2009.  I will be at the “Learn to Crochet” table where anyone can spend a few minutes with a volunteer and learn the single crochet stitch.  Across the way will be volunteers teaching the knit stitch.

Along with these basic stitches you will find many other demonstrations, a fashion show, meet authors and view products from numerous vendors. Lots of free stuff was given away last year and I am sure this year will be no different.  Check the website for all the details, www.knit-out.com .

Last year hubby drove me there through the cold and snow and ice. To keep me from being a passenger driver I kept busy with my knitting. This made traveling much easier for both of us. We will do the same this year. We pop in an audio book, I grab my needles and he drives.

What to pack? This is a dilemma in itself.  Fortunately BellaOnline has a blog entry with details on what to pack when going to a knitting convention or camp  (click here for informative article) .

One of the first things it says to do is go through your stash and supplies so you know what you have before you become enthralled by all the wonderful selection available.  But I will need to clean up that stash closet before I can do that.  That is a project in itself.

I have a number of projects in process as you already know if you read this blog.  Now I just have to decide what projects to take. That doesn’t really matter because I will stop at the end of a row, pick up a new hook or needle and start something else.  Maybe I will commit to making an entire Barbie wardrobe for my niece and take only the items needed for that.  Good thought, I will let it simmer a while and see what appears in my bag by Friday.

If you attend Knit-Out, I’d love to meet you.  I hope to have business cards and handouts for the Knitting Bible Study (check back for definite link) printed and ready to hand out to anyone who asks.

Now, time to get back to one of my current projects. Maybe I will start on the stash closet. If you don’t hear from me in a days, throw in a ball of yarn and some chocolate.
