Barbie Sweater and BellBottoms

Twenty or more years ago I made Barbie clothes for my nieces. Now they are mothers and their daughters are playing with their old Barbies, but after all these years Barbie doesn’t have a thing to wear.

I found this set of patterns by CEClark.  Patterned to be knitted with Canadian size 9 needles I used U.S. size 6 and Red Heart 4ply bulky yarn. The sweater looks great on Barbie. I found it easier to put it on by slipping her legs in and sliding it up. The arms went in smoothly that way.  The bell bottoms I made 2 rows shorter than patterned and was able to seam the back completely and still pull it over her hips. The crotch was a little lower than it should be but all in all I think it turned out looking nice. My great niece isn’t quite sure, however, that her Barbie is ready for bell bottoms :)
