Knit-Out 2008: February 16, Day 1

What a day. If you have never been to the Mall of America let me see if I can describe it. It is large enough to hold 32 Boeing 747s. It is as large as 7 Yankee Stadiums put together. The mall employs 11,000 people year round and 13,000 during holiday seasons and summers. On any given day the Mall itself becomes the 3rd largest populated city in Minnesota. There is an amusement park within the mall with 30 rides and attractions including ferris wheel and roller coasters. An estimated 50,000 people pass through there on a weekend.

With 520 stores a person could spend 10 minutes browsing at every store and it would take more than 86 hours to complete the visit of the mall.   I have a feeling I won’t be able to see a significant portion this weekend. I will instead be browsing the 21 e3xhibitor booths and numerous demonstrations, fashion shows and other exciting events.

Purl_sm I took Purl along with me. She wanted to see the various yarns and hopes to get some ideas for making some friends. She was quite a hit with other knitters and crocheters. She got her picture taken with many of the exhibits and was also pictured with Debbie Macomber, Vickie Howell, Jennifer Stafford and the Lion Yarn Brand Lion.  I will post those pictures later.  Right now I have to get back to the mall.  I am teaching crochet  to visitors.  Knitting instruction is also available.  Watch here for more information.
